The Wall of Avila is a Romanesque military fence surrounding the old town of Avila, located in the autonomous community of Castilla y Leon in Spain. Although since the Roman conquest of the city there was a wall or fence, the present wall dates from the second half of the twelfth century. The wall has a perimeter of 2516 m, 2500 battlements, 87 blocks or towers and 9 gates.
