El príncipe de Gales es, desde 1301, el título del heredero de los monarcas británicos. La tradición la inició Eduardo I de Inglaterra en 1301 que dio este título a su hijo, el príncipe Eduardo (posteriormente Eduardo II de Inglaterra) después de la anexión del País de Gales por Inglaterra, a través del Estatuto de Rhuddlan.
The Prince of Wales is, since 1301, the title of heir to the British monarchs. The tradition was started by Edward I of England in 1301 that gave the title to his son, Prince Edward (later Edward II of England) after the annexation of Wales by England, through the Statute of Rhuddlan.
